What is this about?
On November 5, 2019, AnitaB.org had our “Male Ally Summit 2019” to inform advocates on how to become change agents that drive intersectional gender equity in tech. We brought together ambassadors, mentors, sponsors, and other champions to network with peers and gain strategies to make their teams a place where everyone wants to work. We also did the Male Ally Summit 2018 and in 2017 an event called, “The Role of Male Allies, Advocates, and Mentors in Retaining Women in Tech.”
What we learned is that there are still a lot of questions on what are actionable steps that one can do in their workplace or community to shift the culture where ALL feel included and welcomed and especially how to make Women in the Technology feel their departments and workplace environment is inclusive and welcoming.
What happens on calls?
Guest speakers discuss the “One ‘DEI’ Thing” that they have implemented, done, started, or been a part of that have SHIFTED the dynamics and culture of their workplace. We wonder what was it? How can we implement similar changes where we work?
Our goal is to ensure community members are continuing the DEI conversations and taking steps to impact people where they are.
We meet via Zoom every month, on a Monday at 1:00 PM ET, for an hour-long conversation. Every call features a guest speaker(s), time to ask questions, and a place to share wins you experienced along the path of creating a workplace where everyone feels welcomed and connected.
