Day 1, 10.30 AM – 11.30 AM, Virtual Room 1
Era of 5G

Radhika Chennakeshavula
The new era of 5G is here, promising to deliver huge innovations across the computing and data landscape. “Vast and fast” is the major theme of 5G because of its 10Gb per second bandwidth speed (20 times faster than 4G LTE) and much higher capacity to connect the tens of billions of things that make up the internet of things (IoT). 5G will enable new types of service offerings that were not previously available due to network limitations, potentially reshaping entire industries. Let’s talk about the opportunities out there and what it means for India.

What does the future hold in store?

Jyotika Kapur
One who studies innovation may be exhilarated by the variety and speed at which clever new products and services come into the market. Automation and AI have taken over the world with a breeze with most repeated tasks done now by machines. So how does one come up with these innovative ideas? What does the future hold for us with respect to careers, technologies , occupations ?

Music research in the age of big data

Dr. Vinoo Alluri, Professor, IIIT Hyderabad
Based on user behaviour, it is easy to tell what kind of people like to listen to what kind of music, at what kind of location, at what time, and so on. But personalizing the entire music listening experience is just one part of the story. Mining music listening history which allow us to obtain information ranging from semantics (tags, lyrics) to information about the music (genre, artist, etc.) to the acoustic content of the song, to users’ listening patterns (if they are listening to the same set of artists on a regular basis or sporadically). This talk focuses on understanding what sort of patterns (either textual, acoustic, or habitual) exist in a more realistic music listening setting which may be indicative of poor mental health in addition to uncovering the potential modulatory role of personality.

The Secret Life of OTT Video Service : Technology Stack behind OTT

Vaibhavi Gondil

An OTT video streaming service is one where media such as videos are delivered to the end consumer directly over the internet without the use of traditional broadcasting mechanisms such as TV or cable boxes. Popular video streaming services in the market today include giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime. Viu is Vuclip’s OTT video service that serves 17 different regional markets in SEA, the Middle East and Africa.
All that we see of these services is a tiny little app in the palm of our hands. Have you ever wondered what it takes to create a consumer facing application such as this? In this talk we will take you on a Behind-the-scenes tour of Viu from the point where we ingest videos from movie studios, to the point where you, as a consumer, are finally watching it on your personal device.
We will cover the engineering challenges of scaling to serve millions of consumers, while simultaneously personalizing the app and content for each of these millions of consumers. Like any good movie, we face obstacles in the form of pesky villains such as content pirates, bots that overload our servers or mimic real consumers. On the other hand, we also have clean cut heroes such as powerful public clouds, domain-driven failure-resistant microservices and ML-driven recommendations & content intelligence. Join us on this Indiana Jones-esque journey to learn more!

We are living in a world where everything needs to be at our fingertips and every information should be instant to keep up with the fast pace. In this demanding environment, sharing of information with the much needed ” human touch” via various collaboration platforms have become the need of the hour. The recent unprecedented times have made the growth of collaboration platforms exponential.
The term “Collaboration platform”, denotes a category of business software that adds broad social networking capabilities to work processes. A collaboration platform that has a good set of features today, could be very much outdated tomorrow. The need and the demands are changing continuously at a lightning pace. The collaboration tool today needs to be compatible with Cloud, Mobile, Social and be Secure.

The priority of the requirements for each company might vary based on their needs as to the kind of data it stores, shares internally and externally. Today, storing, transferring and sharing of data adds to additional risks around security which the companies need to care about especially when most data may no longer be limited to stay on their own premises. More than ever before, the companies are looking to leverage the best in class collaboration tools to make sure the business runs as usual with the new normal. These tools have become an essential part of our day-to-day life on the personal front as well. We will have an elaborate discussion around the current day necessities of collaboration platforms, its features, uses and related challenges.

Innovation without Boundaries – Enabling Technology Frontiers

Vijaylaxmi Gumaste Khanolkar, Distinguished Member of Technical Staff, Texas Instruments

What powers smartphones, virtual workspace, seamless financial transactions, video streaming, wearables and other electronics?
Semiconductor technology is at the origin of today’s digital economy. ICs (Integrated Circuits) are the foundation component for processing and computing capability that has enabled emerging technology in consumer electronics, communications, industrial equipment, automotive, medical and space research. Starting with the breakthrough invention of integrated circuits by Jack Kilby of Texas Instruments in 1958, it has evolved over the last few decades and triggered transformations in existing and new applications across industries and personal space. Last few decades of innovations in semiconductor ICs and fuelled by internet growth have dramatically influenced how we use electronics in day to day operations.
This talk will take us through the journey of how innovations in semiconductor electronics have revolutionized global operations across industries. This technology further drives the conceptualization of frontier technology areas in sensing, embedded systems, IoT, artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomous driving and other development areas.

Resilient Supply Chains

Soujanya Damera, Senior Director, Blue Yonder

Globalization VS Localization – Part of the re-assessment of supply chains that we see developing in the months to come includes renewed consideration of localized supply chains. With the globalization of economies and markets across the world, it is not unusual for companies to depend upon low cost suppliers, including factories located in relatively cheap labour markets. But the recent interruptions that many companies are feeling within these supply chains may cause companies to rethink this globalized supply market. At the same time, localized supply chains would also require a rethink in the dominant corporate model of seeking low cost suppliers. A diverse regionalized supply chain would better protect against regional or global disruptions in the future. This presentation dwells upon various pros and cons of local supply chains, considerations that they need to make, industries that are most suited for it and benefits they could bring.

Puneri Katta: Let’s Move to Narrative 2.0

Ruhi Ranjan
Manik Damle
Sushma Joshi

Let’s take the ‘women in tech’ talks a notch higher and try to decode some of the high-impact aspects of personal leadership.
On the Power-Packed Puneri katta we plan to host two home-grown influential women who have worked their way up by dint of their personal leadership. These trailblazers have not only entrenched themselves firmly as influencers but have also caused ripples in conventional and non-conventional areas. Paving way to Narrative 2.0. through two katta conversations.
The two themes through which we would arrive at critical pointers around which Narrative 2.0 can be built are:
· Powering Through Business Acumen
Needless to say, there is no simple formula to becoming a leader. It requires a combination of strong functional and advanced organizational competencies, grounded in a solid set of core values and emotional intelligence. As a leader or aspiring leader at any level, to achieve and sustain extraordinary outcomes at the workplace, strengthening the Leadership Muscle of Business, Strategy and Finance are non-negotiables and vital.
· Amplifying The Social Quotient (SQ)
Social Quotient is the measure of your ability to build a network of known and unknown men & women to accomplish shared vision and goals. This competency develops through the experience of interacting with people and learning from success and failures in social settings. As leaders, we are continuously involved in social transactions of some kind, however the need has expanded beyond a transactional level. Participating, advocating, influencing a community / network of people with common interests has proven to be beneficial in many aspects of life. How does one translate these skills into personal empowerment?

Why is scalability important? Why would you want to build applications with a scalable architecture? Is it just to prepare yourself for a pandemic situation or if you do not have a scalable architecture could everyday be a pandemic for your platform.
A scalable platform is very important in providing a consistent customer journey which is very crucial for any business- pandemic or not. How do platform architects intuit the oncoming new big wave and design for the new big wave keeping in mind resilience, performance, cost, ease of customer journey along with ever expanding technology disruptions.
