Shvetha joined Morningstar in 2017 as a Software Engineer. She believes that the time spent on repetitive tasks can instead be used on innovation and thus looks at automation as a solution. She is a strong proponent of women in STEM and engages in activities to promote STEM awareness.
Laurie Hofherr, Head of Product Development, Oranj
Lauri is Head of Product Development at Oranj where she is building the next generation of wealth management software giving advisors the tools needed to effectively practice in today’s digital age. She started her career at an options trading firm just as a wave of technology revolutionized capital markets. Lauri quickly moved from the business side to technology, where all the fun was happening, as the role of Product Manager developed during the early days of agile. After time at Obtiva, Groupon and Morningstar, she recently returned to fintech just in time for a long overdue tech rehab in the advisor business. She is happily building a platform for both advisors and investors to digitally connect while maintaining the invaluable personal touch.
Lauri is a frequent speaker and moderator on product management and women in tech, received her first multi-media email from Steve Jobs on her NeXT computer and holds a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
Emily Swanson, Software Engineer, Capital One
Emily is a Software Engineer at Capital One. She develops features for the millions of daily customers on Capital One’s credit card servicing website. In addition to her role as an engineer, Emily is the Southwest Regional Recruiting Lead for Capital One’s technology college-hire program. This was Emily’s first time attending the Grace Hopper Celebration. She was humbled by the amazing women technologists and hopes to attend again! Cassie Del Valle, Student, University of Ilinois, Chicago
Cassie is a 21 year old undergraduate student at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is currently pursuing a degree in Information & Decision Sciences with a minor in Computer Science. Her passion lies in working with Data & Analytics and learning more about databases, Hadoop, and SQL. Cassie has attended the Grace Hopper Celebration for the past two years, with this year being the year she attended as a Hopper. Her experiences as both an attendee and a Hopper have shaped her educational path and career goals for the future.
