Interested in Quality Assurance with Open Source?
This talk explores how software quality assurance is performed under the open source model, how it differs from more traditional software development models, and whether those differences could translate into practical advantages. By drawing attention to some of the quality assurance practices in upstream open source projects like fedora, it details ways to improve visibility among and beyond the community to contribute to the testing of open source projects. These advice is intended to inspire the audience and give them a head-start by laying out some best practices and common challenges faced, while quality testing open source products. The result is a better understanding of how traditional quality assurance methods such as formalized testing, writing and tracking bugs are equally relevant for open source development.
You’ll learn about
• How to contribute as a quality tester.
• Different types of tests and how they apply to a specific project.
• Various tools to use to ensure overall quality of the project.
During the last 15 minutes, attendees can ask any questions about quality assurance in open source.
