Join the Celebration at an ABI.Local GHC Viewing Party!

GHC 2014 Party

By Claudia Galván
Sr. Director ABI.Local

When I attended my first Grace Hopper Celebration ten years ago, it was a life-changing experience. It was the first time I got to meet other women in tech like myself, and I still remember the talks that aligned with my career. The valuable connections I built there have been long lasting. When you come back from Grace Hopper, you feel energized, like a super woman ready to face and solve the biggest problems in the world.

The ABI.Local community was created to keep this energy going throughout the year and allow many who cannot attend to have access to local events that help people connect other technical women in their local regions. With the help of Google and an anonymous donor, we have created a platform to help launch and sustain these communities. Through this platform, the ABI.Local community will continue the important conversations that might start at Grace Hopper online and in person to help retain and advance women in computing.

This year, we are launching ABI.Local communities with GHC Viewing Parties in many different cities. These viewing parties will bring the ABI.Local community members together to experience some of the Grace Hopper Celebration main stage events, have discussions on the speakers and sessions and network. These GHC Viewing parties will officially kick off the ABI.Local communities they’ll be hosted in.

The viewing parties are being hosted by partners in Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Austin, Boston, Washington DC and New York on Oct 14-15, 2015. The parties are free for the members of the community, so we invite you to attend and get involved! Stay tuned for more details and information in the coming weeks.

I attended a great GHC viewing party this evening at Youtube in SV! I met a ton of dynamic women who inspired me. Thanks for making this possible. 🙂
